Greetings from the Republic of Beer
Since 1895 Czechvar has brewed the finest Czech lager in the world, made using local ingredients and aged to perfection in our cellars in Ceske Budejovice, South Bohemia. Our brewery is still owned by the people of the Czech Republic. Greetings from the republic of beer.
Ingredients
Only four ingredients go into Czechvar: whole-cone Saaz hops, Moravian malt, our heritage lager yeast and pure soft water, drawn from an Ice Age aquifer 300m underneath our brewery. And it’s been this way since 1895.
Time
It’s said that time moves a little slower in South Bohemia. And when it comes to brewing the perfect Czech lager, that’s a good thing. Lagering, or ‘cellaring’, is the traditional way of brewing lager beer. And while many breweries are moving away from it, we never will because we know that slowly maturing the beer adds its magic, creating bolder, deeper flavours.
Spirit
In 1895, in an act of defiance, our forefathers founded their own brewery in České Budějovice, creating an independent brewery for the Czech people, owned by Czech people. Today we are still the brewery of the Czech Republic with 10 million owners and quality controllers, brewing beer in exactly the same way we always have.
Tasting Notes
Brewed using whole-cone, Saaz hops from ?atec, pristine water from an Ice Age aquifer, Moravian malting barley and our heritage lager yeast, this classic rich and full-flavoured lager sets the gold standard for Czech brewing across the world. The tradition of cold-conditioning in our brewery cellars for seven times longer than most other beers creates a pale lager with a sweet, deep golden body and an aromatic, hoppy foam. Bold in taste, yet refreshing and perfectly balanced.
