The Chateau
This Chateau with its 14 hectares of vineyards averaging 35 years of age has been classified Cru Bourgeois since 1932. Until 2003, it was part of the select group of Cru Bourgeois Superieur, until the new regulations eliminated this designation. Located in part on Médoc's highest plateau, Château Pontey, a cru bourgois classé, has vines on the southern slopes of the commune of Blaignan. This excellent geographical position, and the quality and diversity of the terroir, make this vineyard, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, one of the most interesting in the region.
Tasting Notes
The nose offers power, intensity and concentration, with notes of blackberry, strawberry, violet as well as subtle hints of Cuban pepper, camphor and cardamom. The palate is fruity, fresh, balanced and expresses notes of juicy cherry, small berries with spices. The tannins are well developed and add good length.
