Named after Emperor August who, 2000 years ago, built the road that goes through the Pyrenees Mountains, this cuvée is a blend of 60% Macabeo, 25% Grenache Blanc and 15% Vermentino. The 80+ year old vines are grown on the hillsides of the Agly Valley, on black schist and black marls. The grapes are harvested by hand and picked early to preserve the freshness. They are macerated in the press, and slowly and gently pressed using a pneumatic system, cold stabilized. They co-ferment and age for 6 months in concrete vats prior to bottling. Light filtration, and fining with pea protein. 13% alcohol. 5,000 bottles produced.
Aromas of citrus and exotic fruits. An ample wine to drink 2 to 5 years after release.
