Chinon AOC is the appellation for wines produced around the historic town of Chinon in the central Loire Valley sub-region of Touraine. Although this area has been producing wines of all three colors for many centuries, these days the focus is very clearly on red wines. Chinon is without a doubt one of the great wines of contemporary France and historically has been one of the most sought after red wines in the world as well.
Tasting Notes:
Garnet color and aromas of dark fruit with mild spice and herbal notes. Medium-bodied with red and black cherry flavors, moderate acidity and firm tannins. Pair with stews, Berkshire pork chops, or duck.
