Adega Viuva Gomes Description

Colares is a small appellation northwest of Lisbon and one of Portugal's oldest. Planted entirely in sand, the vines growing there are ungrafted, and very, very old. The red grape of Colares is Ramisco, which grows nowhere else in the world. This expression from Viuva Gomes is rare and remarkable. Light in body but complex and textural with firm( but not big ) tannins and a bright acidity. Berried fruit on the nose give way to some spice and earth on the palate.
